More Than $40,000 In Valuables Stolen In String Of Chanhassen Robberies
CHANHASSEN, Minn. (WCCO) -- Thieves in Chanhassen stole more than $40,000 in valuables during a recent string of burglaries, according to a press release from the city.
According to the Carver County Sheriff's Office, twenty percent of all the city's burglaries in 2015 (five of them) occurred during a recent four-week period, between Sept. 15 and Oct. 16.
Authorities say the first was in Choctaw Circle on Sept. 15, when a suspect took a few dollars in loose change from an unlocked vehicle in an open garage at night.
In the second incident on Sept. 26, a suspect took over $10,000 worth of outdoor recreational equipment from an unlocked shed on Pleasant View Road. According to the Carver County Sheriff's office, the missing items include fishing gear, wake boards and gas cans.
On Oct. 13, police say a suspect broke into a house on Lyman Boulevard through a window, stealing jewelry, collectible coins and currencies. Police say the house was unoccupied at the time, but the total loss was over $35,000, including property damage from forced entry into the home.
In the final incident, a suspect broke into a Valley Ridge Trail South home through the front door, stealing some $4,000 worth of property, including an iPhone, notebook computer, digital cameras, jewelry and a small amount of cash.
