UND Team Nicknames Narrowed Down To 3

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (WCCO) -- The University of North Dakota is trying to come up with a new nickname for its athletic teams. It's gone without one since getting rid of the nickname, "The Fighting Sioux" in 2012.

So after a vote, the choices have been narrowed down to three: the "Fighting Hawks" got 31 percent of the votes, "Rough Riders" got 21 percent, and the "Nodaks" got 20 percent.

The "North Stars" and the "Sundogs" are no longer in the running -- they didn't get enough votes. A final vote will be taken next week by students, staff, alumni and donors.
