Moorhead Man Accused Of Drowning Deer Pleads Not Guilty

MAHNOMEN, Minn. (AP) — A Moorhead man has pleaded not guilty to charges that he pursued a deer with a pontoon boat until the animal drowned.

Fifty-five-year-old Steven William Timm is charged in Mahnomen County with two misdemeanor counts, animal cruelty and chasing a wild animal with a motor vehicle.

Timm was charged after an investigation by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. The charges stem from a Sept. 6 incident on Tulaby Lake east of Waubun. Timm says he was trying to steer the swimming buck back to shore, not hurt it.

KFGO-AM reports his next court appearance is set for Dec. 10.
