Number Of Domestic Violence Deaths On The Rise In Minnesota
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The number of deaths related to domestic violence in Minnesota is growing at an alarming rate.
The Minnesota Coalition for Battered Women said 26 people have died just this year as a result of domestic violence. That's compared to last year, when 16 women and two men died from domestic violence.
The most recent incident happened Sunday in Aurora where police said a man shot and killed his ex-girlfriend.
The Duluth News Tribune reports court documents show back in September that man had been arrested for domestic abuse against the same woman.
Nearly every day three women are murdered in the United States by a current or former partner. The Minnesota Coalition for Battered Women said one in three women will experience abuse in their lifetime.
