North Mpls. Community Gathers To Discuss Future Of Jamar Clark Protests
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The north Minneapolis community held a meeting Saturday to discuss what's being done to seek justice for Jamar Clark.
Clark was shot and killed by Minneapolis police officers last month. The police union says Clark tried to grab one of the officer's guns during a struggle.
Some witnesses said Clark was handcuffed before the shooting. Protesters from the group Black Lives Matter were camped outside the 4th precinct for 18 days.
Minneapolis Police took back the precinct on Thursday morning. Today community members gathered to discuss the next steps.
"Thinking of what are our strategies, in terms of working on the behalf of black men and women, and working on the disparities that impacts them specifically," Robin Wonsley of Minneapolis said.
The community is still demanding the release of the tapes of Jamar Clark's shooting. They are also asking county attorneys to prosecute the case without calling for a grand jury.
