MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – If you didn't get everything on your Christmas wish list, January may be a good month to hit the mall.

The entire month ushers in big savings on everything from brand name TVs to a Fitbit to help you keep your New Year's resolutions.

January is a good time to buy a lot of different things. One of those is clothes.

Retailers need to make room for spring merchandise so they will clearance out fall and winter items, including apparel, boots and winter jackets

Toys are another item that will be on sale.

The first week of January is great for picking up deeply marked down toys at big box stores. Some discounts are as much as 70 percent off.

These are great items to pick up to have as birthday gifts throughout the year. It may also help get an early start on next year's Christmas shopping.

Electronics, such as TVs, are another item that often go on sale in January. Generally these are on sale after consumer electronics show and before the Super Bowl.

And if you're problem is sitting in front of the TV too much, then check out the discounts on health and wellness items. From Fitbits to weights to nicotine patches to salads and weight loss supplements, there are a number of items to choose from.
