Salvation Army Raises Record $11.6M Over Christmas Season

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Salvation Army is saying "thank you" to the Twin Cities for helping them raise the largest ever Christmas campaign goal.

With the help of several large donations, the Salvation Army raised a record $11.6 million in just three months.

Nearly $3 million of that came from red kettles in spite of a shorter bell ringing season.

The rest came from companies and foundations as well as anonymous donations.

The Salvation Army counts on the Christmas campaign to raise about one-third of their nearly $33 million operating budget for the year.
