Tips For Staying Warm At The Vikings Game

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Vikings are in the playoffs on Sunday and it's going to be cold. The wind chill at gametime is expected to be around 20 below zero.

The last outdoor playoff game in Minnesota was at Met Stadium on Dec. 26, 1976 for the NFC title. The Vikings won that game over the Los Angeles Rams.

It was 14 degrees at kickoff for that game, so needless to say it'll be much colder this time around.

Fans are going to have to cheer loud for a win against the Seahawks, and if you're brave enough to do it at TCF Bank Stadium you're going to have to dress warmly.

Steve Schreader at Midwest Mountaneering says stick to a three-layer system -- base, mid-layer and shell. He says start with soft wool close to your skin and fleece for the midlayer. And don't forget about your fingers and toes.

Another option is the Half in a Bag body heat retention system, which you can learn more about by clicking here.

The Vikings will be giving out free hand warmers when you enter the gates at TCF Bank Stadium. There will also be free Caribou Coffee. And starting at 9 a.m., nearby Mariucci Arena will be open and available as a pregame warming house.
