State Patrol: 172 Crashes During Monday Evening Commute
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The combination of extreme cold and light snow can prove to be a dangerous one on Minnesota roads, and it led to several accidents during the Monday evening commute.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, there were 172 crashes across the state between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. Of those, 29 included injuries.
There were another 121 vehicles that either spun out or went off the road in slippery conditions. There were no serious injury or fatal crashes reported.
The State Patrol says a majority of the crashes were in the Twin Cities metro, but there were also incidents reported in Rochester. They can all be attributed to the combination of snow, high winds and cold road surfaces making for slippery roads.
With overnight lows expected to dip below zero, the Tuesday morning commute could again be slowed by slippery roads.
