Water Leak Causes Flooding At Nicollet Towers In Mpls.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A housing complex in downtown Minneapolis is dealing with an icy situation.

It appears a pipe may have burst at Nicollet Towers, located along Nicollet Mall.

WCCO cameras were not allowed inside overnight, but a resident sent in pictures showing flooded hallways and water pouring from the ceiling in places and outside.

According to Volunteers of America – Minnesota and Wisconsin, the leak occurred in the sprinkler system and was under control about an hour after it was discovered in the facility's community room Monday at 10:30 p.m.

Volunteer officials say the leak caused ice to form in the front of the building's main entrances and into the underground garage.

The building's kitchen needed to be closed, but a planned senior nutrition lunch will take place as scheduled using catered services.
