Authorities Seek Help Finding Level III Predatory Offender

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Department of Corrections is looking for a Level III predatory offender who is no longer complying with the conditions of his release from custody.

Authorities say Douglas Lynn Peterson, 66, was released from jail on Nov. 5, 2014, to intensive supervised release in Hennepin County. He's been on fugitive status since Jan. 17, when he absconded from his supervision while residing in the area of 27th Street and Fremont Avenue South in Minneapolis.

Peterson is described as a while male with brown hair and blue eyes. He's about 6 feet tall and weighs 182 pounds, and it's believed he was wearing a black coat with a gray hood and carrying a backpack.

Authorities say he has a criminal history that includes convictions for criminal sexual conduct. He was sentenced to prison time in 2001 for criminal sexual conduct involving juvenile males.

The Department of Corrections says Peterson has ties to Blaine, Blooming Prairie, Golden Valley, Hayfield, Milaca, Minneapolis and Zimmerman. He also has ties with Arcadia, Fla., and Phoenix, Ariz.

Authorities say if you see Peterson, do not attempt to confront him. Anyone with information on where he might be should call 911 or the Department of Correction's tip line at (651) 603-0026.
