East Coast Storms Cause MSP Flight Delays, Cancelations

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A number of flights out of Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport have already been cancelled Saturday morning because of the bad weather on the East Coast.

Thousands are delayed or cancelled nationwide. Anyone with plans to fly out this weekend is advised to check their airline's website for any changes before heading to the airport.

At least nine people have died in storm-related crashes on the East Coast. Hundreds of drivers were stranded for hours on Interstate 75 in Kentucky Friday.

But forecasters say the worst is on its way. Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Philadelphia are expected to get more than two feet of snow.

Forecasters say the real problem will be the winds, which could create massive power outages and snowdrifts measuring 4- to 5-feet high.
