Task Force Report On Child Protection Highlights Areas Of Concern

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A new report shows more work is needed to prevent child maltreatment and improve accountability in Minnesota's child protection system.

According to the Governor's Task Force on the Protection of Children, the biggest reasons kids end up in the system are poverty, substance abuse and physical abuse.

The report, discussed at a press conference on Thursday, highlights both the progress made recently in Minnesota's child protection system and areas of concern.

It found improvements are needed in foster care to find homes for older children and to reduce racial disparities in the system.
