Vadnais Heights Jimmy John's Sandwich Makers Win National Competition

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Some of the fastest food preparers in the country live in Minnesota. They now have bragging rights, and major money to prove it.

If you've ever been to a Jimmy John's, you know their slogan is "Freaky Fast" - because of the pace at which they put together sub sandwiches. A trio of employees from the new Vadnais Heights location entered a national contest to show their culinary speed.

Communication they showed us is the key. They made it the finals in Las Vegas and Robin Maraver, Mandy Edgeberg and Hailey Johnston-Waddick came out champions.

"We were so excited all holding hands, heads together, our hearts were just pounding it seemed like forever when they like between the first place winner and the second place winner," Mandy Edge said. And when they said our names I just dropped and screamed and cried and we ran up on stage, it was awesome."

The "Ladies of the Lakes", as they're known, will be splitting a $50,000 cash prize. They were so busy while in Vegas they didn't get to look around, so they may spend some of their money to take a trip together in the spring.
