Wetterlings Mark Missing Son Jacob's 38th Birthday

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Patty and Jerry Wetterling spent a tough Wednesday marking their missing son's 38th birthday.

Jacob Wetterling was kidnapped in 1989 while biking home with his brother and a friend in his hometown of St. Joseph. He was 11 years old.

His mother Patty published an open birthday letter to him this week, where she also asks all parents to hug their kids a little tighter and tell them they love them.

"How I wish to wrap my arms around you and hug you tight," she wrote. "I want you to know that since you were stolen away from us, people everywhere have been searching, praying and hoping for your safety and for answers."

Meanwhile, 52-year old Danny Heinrich, who last fall was named a person of interest in Wetterling's abduction, is scheduled to be arraigned before a federal judge on Monday on child pornography charges.

He has not been charged in the Wetterling case.
