MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — An 18-year-old Minneapolis man accused of murder is in custody after being in hiding for weeks.
The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office says Evan Ramon Denny was arrested Friday afternoon without incident on the Red Lake Indian Reservation.
Denny is charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of Mohamud Abdiwahab Hilowle in Columbia Heights on Jan. 23.
The criminal complaint says the two were initially arguing about a cellphone before Denny shot Hilowle three times.
Denny is also charged with second-degree assault in a separate case in Minneapolis from Jan. 19.
Anoka and Hennepin counties have begun extradition procedures with Red Lake.
