Gophers' Jordan Murphy Named Big Ten Freshman Of The Week
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- University of Minnesota forward Jordan Murphy was honored by the Big Ten Conference on Monday after the Gophers got their first league win last Thursday.
Murphy scored 17 points and added 11 rebounds as the Gophers upset No. 6-ranked Maryland 68-63 for their first Big Ten victory. It was Murphy's seventh double-double of the season, and he was named the league's Freshman of the Week.
It's his second honor as a freshman as he won the award back on December 7. Murphy leads the Gophers and is sixth in the Big Ten with 7.8 rebounds per game.
The Gophers (7-19, 1-13) host Rutgers, which is still winless in the Big Ten at 0-14, Tuesday night at Williams Arena.
