Minnesota Zoo Announces First Binturong Cub Born In 35 Years
APPLE VALLEY, Minn. (WCCO) – The Minnesota Zoo announced its first binturong cub born in 35 years on Monday.
The cub was born Feb. 12. The gender is not yet known, and the cub is not yet visible to the public. The mother and cub are resting in a nest box behind-the-scenes.
There are currently only 34 binturongs living at 15 zoos across the country, according to the Minnesota Zoo. Three binturongs were born in the last year. Nine have been born at The Minnesota Zoo throughout its history.
It is not yet known when the cub will be visible to the public.
