Sheriff: 1 Seriously Hurt In Douglas County Head-On Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- One person was seriously injured after a head-on crash in Douglas County on Monday, authorities say.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office responded to an injury accident on Liberty Road and Geneva Golg Club Road. A 60-year-old Long Prairie man was driving a 2002 Ford Taurus heading northbound on Liberty Road. An 88-year-old Pipestone man driving a 2002 Infinity QX4 pulled out from Old Glory Dr. in front of the Taurus, and the two vehicles hit head-on.

The 88-year-old man, identified by authorities as Kenneth James Ziebarth, was partially ejected from the Infinity and trapped in his vehicle. Emergency crews were able to get him out, and he was treated at the scene before being airlifted by LifeLink helicopter to St. Cloud Hospital.

Ziebarth was listed in serious condition. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured in the crash. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Minnesota State Patrol, North Ambulance and the Alexandria Fire Department.
