Sick Day!

Remember sick days from school? They were awesome.

You may have felt awful, but the idea of staying home alone, eating soup and watching "The Price Is Right" was the best!

When you're a kid, you bounce back quickly. So back in the day, after a doctors' visit in the morning, they probably gave your mom the drugs at the front desk. This was before the strep culture turned positive in some lab, and way before rapid strep tests.

Then, you were probably feeling better on the way home, just in time for some marathon game show watching.

Two of our three strep tests were positive today, so I'm home doing some couch time with the kids.

Sick days are a little different now. Diagnosis is faster, meds are under lock and key and Drew Carey and "The Price Is Right" has to compete with the internet.

If you are lucky enough to be able to stay home with your sick kids, some things haven't changed. They still want you to make soup and they do want to snuggle more. And you can watch the "Showcase Showdown" while they play "Minecraft."
