Iron Range Mine To Reopen, Putting 540 People Back To Work

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- There's some good news for more than 500 Iron Range workers in Minnesota.

Cliffs Natural Resources is restarting iron production at its North Shore mining operation. That means 540 people will go back to work.

It was last year when about 2,000 people were laid off after a downturn in the steel industry. Since then, about 1,000 of those workers have exhausted their benefits.
