Wander Minnesota: Family Fun For Easter Weekend

Easter is just over a week away. If you're looking for something to do with the little ones over the Easter weekend that doesn't involve going out for brunch, here are a few ideas. Note: Some require pre-registration. Check the links below for details.

The cutest time of the year is scheduled to start Easter weekend at the Minnesota Zoo: Farm Babies are back! Who can resist baby goats, chicks, piglets, lambs, and bunnies? Friday and Saturday there will also be family craft activities, and Saturday Peter Rabbit will be on hand from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. The Zoo will be open on Sunday too.

A day trip to Wabasha gives you access to the National Eagle Center's Soar With the Eagles on Saturday, which also coincides with a presentation called Star Lab that explores the changing skies.

If pancakes are a favorite food, it might be good to head over to French Regional Park on Saturday for the Maple Syrup Festival. See trees being tapped and the syrup boiled down and learn all about the process. Maple syrup is also the star at Dodge Nature Center on Saturday. Learn all about the process from tree to syrup. Syruping will be offered both Saturday and Sunday at Fort Snelling State Park as well.

Richardson Nature Center offers Egg Trail and Rabbit Holes both Friday and Saturday. Take a hike through the forest, meet friendly and informative rabbits, and hunt for wooden eggs. There will be other friendly animals to meet, and crafts and snacks as well.

If you'd like to get more technologically advanced in your egg hunt, head over to Cleary Lake Regional Park for Geocaching for Eggs. The egg hunt will be fine for both new and experienced geocachers.

Take a step back in time by going over to The Landing in Shakopee for a Victorian Easter Egg Roll. Participants get to make a mini Easter basket and decorate a wooden egg, then join in to old-time games like an egg and spoon race, bunny hop relay, and the egg roll.

What else is happening in our state? Be sure to check out the 10 p.m. Sunday night WCCO newscasts, where you can learn more in the weekly segment, Finding Minnesota.
