Sheriff: Truck Sought In Dakota County Hit-And-Run With Bicyclist

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities are looking for a truck involved in a hit-and-run crash with a bicyclist earlier this month in Dakota County that left the victim in critical condition.

The Dakota County Sheriff's Office responded to the crash involving a severely-injured bicyclist at about 5:45 p.m. on March 8 on 250th Street West and Highview Avenue in Eureka Township. Bryan Joas, 45, was taken to a hospital for treatment. Joas, from Eagan, appeared to have been hit by a truck heading the same direction, eastbound on 250th Street.

Authorities say a white pick-up truck with large tires and red highlights was seen leaving the area after the crash.

The Dakota County Sheriff's Office said Thursday that Joas remains in critical condition, but has been taken off a ventilator and is responsive.

A witness to the crash told authorities the vehicle is described as a two-door silver or light colored truck. It will have damage to the passenger headlight, moldings and bud defector or window vent visor.

Joas's employer, MHC Software of Burnsville, is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the driver.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Dakota County Sheriff's Office at (651) 438-4729.
