Minn. Lawmaker Pushes For State To Pay For MNsure Form Delay

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Minnesota lawmaker is pushing for compensation for those who didn't get their MNsure health care tax forms on time.

Problems at Minnesota's health exchange meant that tens of thousands of taxpayers didn't get a 1095 tax form to prove they had insurance.

MNsure's top executive apologized for the problems, and said the remaining 5,000 forms should be mailed by the end of this week.

But one lawmaker -- Rep. Greg Davids, R-Preston -- wants the state to pay a $10 a day penalty to taxpayers who didn't get their 1095 forms by Feb. 1.

MNsure says a computer software problem caused the delay.

The tax filing deadline is April 18.
