MNfusion: 4 Best New Foods At Target Field

It's that time of year again – baseball season.

While 40s and rain may not scream baseball season, the typical spring weather screams 'play ball!'

The MLB kicked off its 2016 season Monday and the Twins' Home Opener is set for Monday, April 11. So, for the 7th year in a row Target Field and Delaware North Sportservice unveiled the latest food offerings for the season.

Hrbek's unveiled several new offerings, including two Legends Club exclusives. The Loon Café, Izzy's and Barrio expanded their Target Field offerings. And, Red Cow and Pizza Luce joined the Twins' food scene.

It should be noted that this blogger did not get a chance to taste the Pizza Luce and Red Cow offerings.

So, with that in mind, here are four of the best new foods available at Target Field for the Minnesota Twins' 2016 season.

Prime Rib Slider

For the 2016 season Hrbek's has a smorgasbord of offerings but their prime rib slider is the clutch hitter.

The sandwich comes with prime rib covered in a Boursin sauce, topped with horseradish and au jus-dipped onions.

The meat has a tender texture and a savory flavor. Mixed with the hint of spice from the horseradish and the sweetness of the onions, it's definitely a homerun.

Walleye Tacos

It's not a Minnesota stadium if there is no walleye! So, Hrbek's decided to steal for second with their walleye tacos.

Chunks of walleye covered in a Cajun spice sit atop a flour tortilla and are topped with a mango salsa and apple cabbage.

The heat from the Cajun is balanced by the fruity mango and refreshing apple. It's a perfect, light alternative to a heavy burger or hot dog.

Summit Beer Cheese and Bacon Bites

Hot Pretzel Bites & Brews is a new stand located in Section 101. It offers three different types of bites – savory, sweet and local.

The savory bite sized pretzels are covered with a gravy and Monterey Jack cheese, and the sweet is topped with Nutella, strawberries and whipped cream.

But the best was the local. Beer cheese, made with St. Paul Summit beer, candied bacon bits and a dash of cayenne pepper cover the local bites.

It was a surprise steal for third.

Izzy's Soft Serve & Gelato

Right off the bat, this one was a hit. Izzy's is a local favorite.

After having a successful run with ice cream, Izzy's is expanding its offerings to include gelato and soft serve. It's also introducing one new flavor each few months.

For April and May, the ice cream flavor is Birchwood Key Lime Pie. In June, it will be Graham Cracker.

Needles to say, Izzy's is definitely a star player.

Beverages

While it's hard to top Hrbeck's Bloody Mary, especially when it comes with the a buffalo chicken wing and bacon cheeseburger, Longfellow Lemonade was the perfect baseball treat. After all, few things are more American than baseball and lemonade!

Sweet and sour, the cocktail includes L'etoile Vodka and fresh lemon juice topped with a strawberry coulis.
