Group Of MN Lawmakers Show Support For NC Gov's Bathroom Law

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A group of republican lawmakers in Minnesota have sent a letter to North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory in a show of support of his state's new bathroom law.

The letter, penned in respond to Gov. Mark Dayton's ban on non-essential state travel to North Carolina, praises McCrory's decision to enact a new policy that requires people to use restrooms that correspond to their biological sex.

"As fellow elected officials, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to you for being a courageous voice for common sense in protecting the safety and privacy of the citizens in your state," the letter begins.

The letter goes on to say that the protests happening in Minnesota and other states over North Carolina's new law is "unfortunate" and "do not represent our views, nor those of the vast majority of Minnesotans"

The letter ends with, "We stand with you, Governor McCrory."

A total of 24 Minnesota lawmakers, including Rep. Abigail Whelan, Sen. Warren Limmer and Rep. Tony Cornish, signed the letter.
