Minnesota Native Whitney Tinjum Transfers To Gophers

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota native Whitney Tinjum has joined the Gophers women's basketball program as a fifth-year graduate transfer.

The university announced Monday the addition of Tinjum to the roster for the 2016-17 season. The 6-foot-1 forward, a former Chisago Lakes High School standout, played two years at Bradley University after starting her college career at Washington State.

Tinjum is the fourth Minnesotan to transfer from a power-conference program to the Gophers since coach Marlene Stollings was hired, joining Bryanna Fernstrom, Allina Starr and Kenisha Bell. Fernstrom and Tinjum were teammates at Chisago Lakes.

Tinjum was Bradley's second-leading scorer last season, averaging 9.2 points per game.
