Safety Measures Implemented At Wright Co. School After 'Vague' Threat

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- School officials in a Wright County school say a "vague" threat written inside the high school has prompted some safety measures Tuesday.

On Monday, a note was sent to parents and guardians of students at the Dassel-Cokato Public Schools. School officials say "People will die 4/19/16" was written in the high school storage room.

Officials say students access the area to get supplies for teachers. In addition to other graffiti, the threat was accompanied by another phrase: "People are sick."

After consulting with Wright County law enforcement, the threat is not believed credible, but safety measures have been enacted.

On Tuesday, no students will be allowed to access the middle school and high school facility until after 7:15 a.m., all their belongings will be checked and there will be increase law enforcement presence throughout the day.

"While we take situations like this seriously, threats like this one are, typically, only harmful, disruptive pranks that cause a lot of grief for everyone concerned," the school wrote. "Perpetrators, if caught, will be dealt with both by authorities and the school district."

An investigation is ongoing and a reward will be paid for any information leading to the conviction the person or persons responsible for the threat.
