Klobuchar: Prince's Legacy Transcends Music
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – According to Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Minnesota may have taken Prince for granted.
"Because, in our Minnesota way, we let him live his life," she said on WCCO Sunday Morning. "He loved Minnesota, he made it his home."
As fans in Minnesota and across the globe continued to mourn the Purple One's passing, the senator commented on the artist's legacy – which extended beyond his many hits, styles and classic performances.
"He had this fierce belief that he owned his words, he owned his name and no one could own him," Klobuchar said. "And that's something that really transcends music."
Prince dies on Thursday at his Paisley Park complex in Chanhassen. He was 57.
The senator also spoke with WCCO's Esme Murphy on Sunday about issues she's been working on, such as American soldiers suffering from toxic burn pits, Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign and security problems at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
