Mixed Blood To Host 40th Anniversary Gala At Paisley Park

A little under a month after the shocking death of Minnesota's Prince, a local theatre will celebrate its 40th anniversary at the place he called home.

On May 14, Mixed Blood Theatre will host its 40th anniversary gala at Paisley Park.

The Mixed Blood Theatre announced the gala would be held at Paisley Park back in March.

Since Prince's untimely death, the theatre company struggled with keeping the celebration in Chanhassen. However, they said staff from Paisley Park assured them that Prince wanted this event to happen."

"After working closely with the team at Paisley Park, it is clear to all parties that the event supports the ideals of both Mixed Blood and Prince: a commitment to illuminating and celebrating pluralism, the pursuit of social justice and equity where it cannot be found, and the lifting up of Minnesota artists of color," Mixed Blood Managing Director Amanda White Thietje said in a recent press release.

The gala will take place from 6 to 9 p.m., with an after-party going from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m.

A dance party at the after party will celebrate the Mixed Blood and include a Prince tribute. DJ Breakbeat Lou will perform.

Gala tickets start at $175 and are available for purchase until May 6. After-party tickets are $40 and are on sale until May 9.

For more information, or to purchase tickets, call 612-338-7106 or visit the Mixed Blood Theater online.
