New Viking Alex Boone Is Here To Work...And Have Fun

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – New Vikings guard Alex Boone has made a grand entrance to Minnesota. He's here for off-season workouts and to train and bond.

He came from San Francisco and he claims enthusiasm is a big part of his game.

"I think because I'm so loud and just kind of out there all the time, I don't say the nicest words all the time. I enjoy being here so much that when I'm here I'm just at a 10 all the time," said Boone.

He's maybe taken his head coach a bit off guard.

"Mike's the man. I don't know he feels about me right now, but I'm hoping he'll come around. I think he thinks I'm a little oddball, but it's OK," Boone said.

"He's fun. I know Zim's dealt with quite a few personalities in his day, so I think he'll do just fine with Alex," said Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph.

He's a big fan of Teddy Bridgewater.

"I love him because he is the prototypical quarterback. He's a great guy, he's great to be around. He doesn't overstep his boundaries, which is awesome. He's always coming up, 'Hey, great job,'" Boone said.

And he can't wait to block for Adrian Peterson.

"I think I've watched AP as much as everybody else. I think he is by far one of the best running backs in the league. He reminds me so much of a Frank Gore and Marshawn Lynch at the same time it's almost scary," Boone said.

But for now, he just wants to get acclimated and have some fun.

"Coming from another team, at first I was kind of nervous about how I was going to fit in," Boone said, "but then when you get here, you realize the guys are great, they all want to play football and they all want to have fun. That's the most important thing in this league, and I've always believed that."
