2 Boys Could Face Charges In Wobegon Trail Bridge Arson

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Two juvenile males could face charges after a fire last Saturday on the Wobegon Trail Bridge in Albany was ruled arson, according to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office.

Two boys, ages 14 and 16 of Albany, admitted to authorities that they were responsible for the fire that damaged the bridge and caused it to be closed temporarily over the weekend. Authorities were called at about 5:33 p.m. Saturday after a bicyclist in the area reported the fire on the bridge.

The fire was put out, and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources said the bridge was safe for travel after an inspection. The boys were released to their parents, and the case has been sent to the Stearns County Attorney's Office for possible charges.

The names of the two boys have not been released.
