Driver Pleads Guilty In St. Paul Hit-And-Run

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A driver accused in a hit-and-run crash in St. Paul that put a woman in a coma has pleaded guilty to criminal charges.

Thirty-year-old Danielle Dennay Sivels entered the plea to one count of criminal vehicular operation of a vehicle. Local reports say two other charges were dropped. Authorities say the 30-year-old driver left the scene after crashing into Sophia Bouwens' vehicle in March 2015. Bouwens suffered a skull fracture, broken jaw, fractured leg, brain injuries and was left in a temporary coma.

Sivels faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Sentencing is Aug. 5.
