Aeropostale To Close 5 Twin Cities Stores

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Casual clothing store Aeropostale has announced it will be closing 113 stores across the country, including five locations in the Twin Cities.

On Wednesday morning, the company announced it has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

The initial closures will affect 113 U.S. locations and 41 stores in Canada. Five stores in Minnesota will be closed as a result.

Those include the locations at Albertville Premium Outlets, Maplewood Mall, Northtown Mall, Riverdale Village and Rosedale Mall.

These stores will close the weekend of May 7. The stores in Canada will close the week of May 9.

In a recent press release, the company said it filed a series of motions that would allow it to pay employees without interruptions and honor all gift cards. These motions are pending court approval.
