Workin' For The Weekend: Cinco De Mayo, Mother's Day & The Derby

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- There is so much to celebrate this weekend, you can't blame us for Workin' for the Weekend.

Cinco de Mayo, Kentucky Derby, Mother's Day!

Check out the great ways you can celebrate them all in the Twin Cities…

Cinco de Mayo

It may be Cinco de Mayo Thursday, but the real party will be in St. Paul on Saturday.

The 34th Annual Cinco de Mayo West Side Saint Paul Festival features a parade at 10 a.m. which will be followed by live music, pony rides and great food.

If you're looking to add a little spice to your life, be sure to check out the Jalapeño Eating Contest!

National Public Garden Day

Soak in the sights of spring at the arboretum.

Friday is National Public Garden Day, and the Arboretum is offering free admission all day.

See 30,000 tulips in full bloom, crab apples, lilacs and annuals throughout the grounds.

Special family activities, giveaways and other events are also planned throughout the day.

Kentucky Derby

Get out your biggest hat and head to Canterbury Park.

With more than 500 TVs there is no better way to watch the Kentucky Derby.

There will even be a Red Carpet Selfie Station to show off your best derby style.

Mother's Day At The Zoo

Finally moms, we didn't forget about you.

Moms get in for free Saturday and Sunday at the Minnesota Zoo, plus a free admission Sunday at the IMAX theater.

On Sunday there is free admission for moms at the Children's Museum and Bell Museum.

And make sure to stop by Como Park Zoo & Conservatory for its annual Mother's Day Bonsai Show.
