Police: Young Girl Hit By Stray Bullet Inside Mpls. Apartment
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minneapolis police are investigating after a young girl was struck and injured by a stray bullet inside an apartment building on the north side of the city Thursday evening.
According to police spokesman Scott Seroka, the incident happened at 10:21 p.m. on the 1600 block of Plymouth Avenue North.
Police say an unknown number of people were behind the apartment building when shots were fired. The victim's mother says it was a group of guys who don't live at the apartment playing a game of dice, which led to an argument and ultimately gun shots.
The young female victim was struck in the foot by a stray bullet. She was taken to the North Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
According to the victim's mother, the girl is 10 years old and the bullet went through her foot and damaged tissue. She's expected to make a full recovery.
The mother also says the girl was sleeping in bed with her 11-year-old brother at the time of the shooting.
