1 Year After Blood Donors Saved Her Life, Eagan Cop Gives Back
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Twin Cities police officer used to helping others through their toughest moments, needed lifesaving help herself.
One year ago, Eagan police Sergeant Danielle Anselment went in for a scheduled C-section to give birth to her 5th child. Her blood pressure plummeted, her heart rate went up, and she lost so much blood she needed enough to replenish her body three times.
Danielle woke up two days later to meet her baby boy, Parker.
Doctors told her it was a miracle she pulled through. Danielle's husband is also a police sergeant in Burnsville.
"We go out every single day, and we get to help people and make a difference and solve problems," she said. "It was really hard to be in the position where I was the one who needed help and wasn't in control."
As a way to give back, the family will host a blood drive on Saturday. The Red Cross will host it from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hope Lutheran church in Hastings. You can find more at the Red Cross website.
