Tap Talk: Summit Releases 2nd Beer For 30th Anniversary

In 2016, Summit turned 30! Now, the St. Paul brewery is keeping the party going by releasing the second of its four 30th anniversary beers.

Earlier this year, Summit announced in celebration of its 30th birthday it would be releasing four new anniversary beers.

The first was the Summit 30th Anniversary Double IPA.

Released in March, the bold brew featured notes of lime, papaya and mango and featured six different hop varieties.

It offered a citrusy punch perfect for beating the winter blues.

Now, Summit has released its second brew – the Keller Pils.

A more sessionable summer ale, the Keller Pils features flavors of a classic German pilsner.

Summit's brewers combined malts from Weyermann Specialty Malting Company, located in Bamberg, Germany, that have hints of honey with slightly spicy and citrusy hops to create a clean, gentle taste.

Additionally, it is brewed in the copper brewhouse and is served unfiltered.

The 30th Anniversary Keller Pils is available on draft in Summit's brewhouse as well as several locations around the metro.

At 4 p.m. Friday, May 20 head brewer Damian McConn will be at Keegan's Irish Pub promoting the beer.

Then from 2 – 5 p.m. Sunday the beer will be part of Hops for Cops at Boom Island, a fundraiser for the Minneapolis Mounted Police.

On May 26, the Keller Pils will be featured at Elwoods at 5 p.m.

If you miss it in May, catch the beer on tap at Hop 21 beginning at 7 p.m. June 2.

And finally, it will be at Mission American Kitchen & Bar beginning at 4 p.m. June 16.

It is also available in six-packs and 12-packs of 12 ounce cans.
