Col. Hts. Home Invasion Suspect Charged

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A man accused of breaking into several homes and sexually assaulting a young girl in the Columbia Heights and St. Anthony area has been charged with criminal sexual conduct and burglary.

Jarid Troy Alan Jovanovich, 28, has been charged with criminal sexual conduct in the second degree, attempted criminal sexual conduct in the second degree and four counts of burglary in the first degree, according to the criminal complaint.

The complaint states that a male entered a home on Arthur Street in Columbia Heights on May 22, got into bed with two juvenile females and sexually assaulted them. The man fled when one of the girls called for her father. The girl described the male and said he was wearing a white baseball hat and red shirt.

Three similar incidents occurred in the Columbia Heights and St. Anthony area around the same time. One incident was captured on surveillance video. Based on the video and the girl's description, police identified and arrested Jovanovich.

Jovanovich admitted to entering the Arthur Street home and seeing the two girls asleep, according to the complaint. The complaint also states that he denied sexually assaulting either girl and told police he entered the home to rob it.
