St. Paul Hosts Community Forum For Police Chief Finalists

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The city of St. Paul kicks off the first of two public forums where people can ask questions of the five finalists for St. Paul Police Chief Wednesday night.

The finalists all currently work in the Twin Cities.

They include current St. Paul Assistant Chief Todd Axtell, Minneapolis Police Lieutenant Eddie Frizell, St. Paul Police Commander Colleen Luna, St. Paul Senior Commander Tina McNamara and St. Paul Senior Commander Matt Toupal.

Wednesday's community forum is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Concordia University, at EM Pearson Theater.

The next forum is Thursday night at Progressive Baptist Church in St. Paul.

Former St. Paul police chief Tom Smith retired as chief last month.

He was with the St. Paul Police Department for 26 years, and was named chief in 2010.

Smith said in retirement he planned to relax, travel and enjoy his grandchildren.
