Police: Hospital Worker Hit By Car, Killed In St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- A woman is dead after being hit by a car while in a crosswalk Tuesday afternoon in St. Paul, according to police.

The St. Paul Police Department responded to the crash at about 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of Cayuga St. and Arkwright St. N. Police say a woman was in the crosswalk and with the right of way as she was was crossing Cayuga St. when a car turning left struck her.

The driver is cooperating fully with police, and drugs or alcohol appear do not appear to be a factor in the incident. What led up to the woman being hit is under investigation. The woman has not been identified.

The victim was an employee at HealthPartners Specialty Center, which is right next to where she was killed. Hositpal officials released this statement Tuesday night:

"It is with sadness we share that a Regions Hospital employee died after being struck by a vehicle outside HealthPartners Specialty Center in St. Paul this afternoon.

This is a difficult time for all of us. The St. Paul Police Department is leading the investigation into this tragic accident, and grief counselors will be available for colleagues in the coming days.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to our colleague's family and loved ones."
