Wis. Elections Board Wants Ryan Challenger To Stay On Ballot

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin elections board is recommending that House Speaker Paul Ryan's Republican challenger be allowed to stay on the ballot.

Paul Nehlen's nomination papers are being challenged by a conservative activist. The state Government Accountability Board was meeting Friday to consider the issue along with challenges to nine other candidates.

Orville Seymer argues that Nehlen should not be allowed on the ballot in the 1st Congressional District race against Ryan because he had an incorrect home address on his nomination papers. But the elections board staff says his paperwork "substantially complies" with the requirements and he should be allowed on the ballot.

One complaint filed against Democratic state Rep. Christine Sinicki of Milwaukee was withdrawn. The board was to hear challenges to two other incumbent state representatives.
