Charges: Mpls. Man Shot Victim 10 Times After Argument

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 39-year-old Minneapolis man faces charges in connection to a north Minneapolis homicide last week, according to Hennepin County Attorney's Office.

Chris Scott – also known as Marcell Scott -- is charged with second-degree murder without premeditation and possessing a firearm as a convict, both felonies.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, around 11:15 p.m. last Thursday officers responded to a call of muffled gunshots on the 3500 block of Knox Avenue North.

Upon arrival, police found a person waiting outside, attempting to flag them down. The person told police to check on someone inside the home.

Once inside, police found a man dead from gunshot wounds.

According to the complaint, Scott's fingerprints were discovered inside the residence. Scott was arrested Saturday night and booked into the Hennepin County Jail on probable cause murder.

A witness, who was with Scott and the victim, told police that Scott shot the victim ten times after the two began arguing.

If convicted, Scott could face up to 40 years in prison on the murder charge and up to 15 years on the firearm charge.
