Minnesota Ranks No. 7 For Least Amount Of Gun Deaths In U.S.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The number of gun-related deaths varies across the country.

24-7 Wall Street recently came out with a list of the best and worst states for gun violence.

Let's start with the worst: Alaska. It leads the nation in gun deaths with nearly 20 for every 100,000 residents.

It's followed by Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Montana, rounding out the top five. Arkansas comes in sixth, followed by New Mexico, Wyoming, South Carolina and Oklahoma.

The state with the least gun violence is Hawaii. There were only about three gun deaths for every 100,000 people in 2014.

Rhode Island comes in second, followed by Massachusetts, New York and Connecticut.

New Jersey is sixth, followed by Minnesota (nearly 7 out of 100,000 people), California, Iowa, and Wisconsin rounding out the top 10.
