Barkhad Abdi Cast In 'Blade Runner' Sequel

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Barkhad Abdi, the former Minneapolis limo driver who earned an Oscar nod for his debut role in "Captain Phillips", has reportedly joined the cast of the "Blade Runner" sequel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Abdi will be in the film alongside headliners Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford and Robin Wright.

The original 1983 film was directed by Ridley Scott and based on the Philip K. Dick novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep."

The sequel will be helmed by Denis Villeneuve ("Sicario", "Prinsoners").

Others actors involved in the secretive production include Ana de Armas, Mackenzie Davis and Dave Bautista.
