13-Year-Old Boy Injured After Falling Off Boat

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 13-year-old boy was seriously injured when he fell off a boat being operated by a 12-year-old boy Sunday.

According to Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson, the two boys were boating on Lake Waconia just before 1 p.m. Sunday when the 13-year-old fell overboard while trying to grab an object at the back of the boat.

The boat's propeller struck the 13-year-old and he sustained a serious injury to one of his legs. The 12-year-old pulled him back onto the boat and they returned to the dock, where emergency personnel transported the 13-year-old to Hennepin County Medical Center.

The sheriff said both boys were wearing life jackets and had the appropriate permits to operate the boat.
