Gov. Dayton Serves Troops In Croatia
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Gov. Mark Dayton is in Croatia this weekend to visit National Guard troops.
Dayton joined the U.S. ambassador to Croatia and St. Paul restaurant owners serving steak dinners to the Minnesota troops.
The state is commemorating a 20-year partnership with the Croatian military that began during the Balkan War.
"It was very much focused on trying to build the Croatian military in response to the continuing threats militarily on their borders. And over time it has broadened into economic and educational collaborations," Dayton told WCCO over the phone.
The governor says he expects to be back in Minnesota to attend the Fourth of July parade in Delano on Monday.
