Report: Minneapolis Has 3rd Highest Birth Costs In U.S.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- More babies are born in July than any other month, and if you're giving birth in Minneapolis, you're paying more than most women in the U.S.

Castlight Health looked at the cost of maternity care in the 30 largest U.S. cities. It ranked Minneapolis as the third most expensive city to have a natural birth.

Sacramento and San Francisco topped the list with moms paying a little over $15,000. Philadelphia came in fourth and Portland in fifth.

Moms having a C-section paid the most in Sacramento and San Francisco -- averaging $27,000. Portland came in third, then Minneapolis, and San Diego.

Castlight Health also found Minneapolis to be the most expensive city in the country for women's primary care visits.
