Citizens Supporting Police Departments After Falcon Heights Shooting
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Several Twin Cities police departments are getting visible signs of support from metro residents in the wake of Wednesday's fatal officer-involved shooting in Falcon Heights.
The incident, where Philando Castile was fatally shot by St. Anthony police, sparked protests both at the scene and the Governor's mansion over what activists say is police brutality. On the other side, departments are getting random acts of kindness as residents are saying "Thank You" for officers putting their lives on the line every day.
The Chaska Police Department says it's received an outpouring of support in the wake of officers being murdered by snipers in Dallas Thursday night. Flower arrangements were place at the department along with a sign that reads, "Police Lives Matter."
They also got a supportive message and food from their colleagues at the fire department. Other gifts from residents also included food, cards and baked goods.
In Lakeville, kids brought donuts and a card of support to their officers on Friday.
The Burnsville Police Department also took to Twitter to thanks its citizens for an outpouring of support on Friday.
We would like to thank the members of our community who have been stopping by to show us support today. We truly appreciate it. Thank you.
