Lynx Back On Track With Dominant Win Over Wings

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- When the Lynx started the season with a WNBA-record 13-0, it looked like they might never lose.

Then they lost four of their last six.

But Saturday night, they got back on track in a big way, routing Dallas by 37 points -- their biggest margin of victory in 10 years.

And yes, that was absolutely a response to the way they'd been playing lately.

"I think there's no question," coach Cheryl Reeve said. "Losing four out of six, after being so good, you know I mean it was one of those things. Sometimes you can accept a loss if a team plays better than you. When two of your four losses are you beat yourself, they're particularly disturbing. And we're putting an end to that."

It says something that the Lynx could flex their muscles and turn it on like that to so quickly change the way they were playing.

"It's one thing to identify a problem, it's another one to figure out the action steps to cure it," Reeve said. "We were pretty focused, pretty determined.... I thought we were on a mission."

And it seems like all is once again well again in Lynx-land.

"We wanted to do what we knew our game plan was," said forward Maya Moore. "And the amount of energy and the way we were moving the ball -- I think we had 17 assists at half -- it was just a really fun flow game."

The Lynx still have 14 games left in the regular season, but only five until taking a month-long break for the Olympics. So they're looking at these five like they're the stretch run of the season.

"We find it really important that those five games, we're playing well," Reeve said. "Not just good enough, we want to play great. And so I think we've kind of returned to that mentality. I think that's what you saw against Dallas."
